ANZAC Day Parade
Honour both fallen and surviving members of ANZAC in this year’s ANZAC Day Parade in Brisbane, which will mark ANZAC Day’s 103rd anniversary since its first commemoration in 1916.
ANZAC Day takes place each year on April 25 to remember and honour the lives of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who fought at Gallipoli during World War I. Siding with the Allied Forces in 1914, Australia and New Zealand sent their armed forces to fight against the Ottoman Empire on the Gallipoli peninsula on April 25, which resulted in a punishing eight-month campaign, eventual stalemate and the loss of more than 11,000 Australian and New Zealand soldiers in total. Ever since, the date has been a day of remembrance in both Australia and New Zealand for those who fought and sacrificed their lives, as well as those who continue to serve and protect the country.
ANZAC Day is a public holiday in Australia and New Zealand with widespread commemorations taking place in both countries. The annual ANZAC Day Parade in Brisbane is a huge commemoration in Queensland, where veterans, soldiers and their families march through the Brisbane Central Business District with people from all over the country joining in to spectate and pay their respects.
The ANZAC Day Parade is sponsored by the Queensland Government and will be led by the Royal Australian Navy, and will take place in Brisbane from 10am to 1pm on April 25.
