The home of the Queensland Reds rugby union team is Ballymore Stadium. The stadium, which can hold 18,000 people, has served as the headquarters for the Queensland Rugby Union since 1966.
Did you know that Ballymore is currently redeveloping into a centre for high-performance sports and wellbeing precinct ready for the 2023 Olympic Games? Just a short 3-minute drive or 1.8-kilometre walk from Annexe Apartments! Thanks to the approval of the Ballymore Redevelopment Masterplan, which saw the demolition of the McLean Stand and the construction of a new grandstand with 3010 seats, including the National Rugby Training Centre. Olympic athletes will soon be able to train and compete in a top-notch facility in this location, dubbed the Silicon Valley of sport and wellness.
Three additional buildings will be built in Ballymore as part of the reconstruction plan, with a total of 5000 square meters set aside for sports administration, recreation, allied health, and sports medicine. More neighbourhood organisations and land users will have access to the site.
